As a mother, grandmother, doula, newborn care specialist, and HB Educator, I see the needs of families, especially when there is a new baby in the home. When my daughter let me know that many of her friends were wondering if I could care for their baby or babies, I was surprised. She went on to explain that most do not have family members that live close by, or have anyone that they would trust caring for their most precious possession. And that is how North Star Newborns was born. We help protect newborns and infants by providing educated, experienced, fully vetted newborn care specialists and postpartum doulas.

“I have always loved babies. I loved helping my mother (who ran an in-house day care in our home) with every new infant she cared for and have memories of doting on young cousins. I babysat infants and young children as an adolescent. I also gained experience as a PCA (personal care assistant) for a child with severe disabilities which included a feeding tube. After I got married, I longed to be a mother and was blessed with two babies of my own. Nowadays, they are school aged (5 & 6) and I am honored to be able to share my talent for infant care with North Star Newborns families. I will bring my positivity and patience to your home and am delighted to be able to share in that delicate first year of your child’s life.”
Angela is CPR and BLS Certified.

Lisa is a mother of 3 lovely elementary-aged kids. She has a Bachelors degree in Sociology and took many courses in Psychology. In addition to her personal parenting experience, she recently completed a Newborn Care Specialist class and is CPR certified.
Lisa breastfed her children and also used cloth diapers. One of her sons needed to change to Neocate formula due to allergies, so she has personal experience with both ways of feeding a newborn.
After staying home to care for her kids for 5 years, she is excited to enter the work world again. Prior to staying home she managed a home with 8 developmentally disabled adults/children. Before that, she was a PCA for a young boy with DiGeorge Syndrome.
Lisa has always had a passion for helping/caring for people, especially babies! It all started when she was 4 years old at home with her mother during the days. Her mom took care of a neighbors baby and Lisa was by her side helping with everything.
Lisa is very excited to work with the North Star Newborn clients and support them through this new and exciting time of life.
“I live in Blaine, wife (married for 33 years), a mother of five grown children, and a grandmother of four (not including the “four legged” variety). I was blessed to be an at-home mom and I owned/provided home daycare for many families. It was not unusual to find 12 children (of all ages) under foot at any time – “the more the merrier,” one might say. Taking care of children and working with “little ones” comes naturally to me.
“I have my Master’s Degree in Special Education and have been working in special education and with families and their students’ with disabilities for the past 18+ years. But life is urging me to leave the classroom and calling me back to “little ones.” My motto: “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” I am a teacher and nurturer by nature. For me, working with people and children is a passion and a labor of love. I know the value of listening to others. Over the years, I have experienced and witnessed the ups and downs of raising children and trying to juggle all the demands life puts on us. It is important to find the best care and support for our children when we ourselves can’t be there. That’s what excites me about being a part of North Star Newborns. I get connected to awesome clients and have the opportunity to provide professional, loving, and caring support to families when they need it most. Like they say, “It takes a Village.””

Before being married I gained experience in walking alongside families as a long-term nanny. Once married my husband and I were houseparents for 10 teenage boys. Then I was the Residential Supervisor of a group home for 4 special needs adult men for several years. All of these experiences have helped shape who I am now and I’m very grateful to be able to support moms and dads in this special time of bringing home a baby. I have been a postpartum doula for the last 2 years and have loved it. I have experience working with families who welcome home twins.
