Ellen Marie Roeser, Postpartum Doula(DONA), Advanced Newborn Care Specialist, Sleep Specialist, CHBE, Founder and Owner of North Star Newborns

As a mother, grandmother, postpartum doula, advanced newborn care specialist, Happiest Baby Educator, and baby sleep expert, I see the needs of families, especially when there is a new baby in the home. When my daughter let me know that many of her friends were wondering if I could care for their baby or babies, I was surprised.  She went on to explain that most do not have family members that live close by, or have anyone that they would trust caring for their most precious possession.  And that is how North Star Newborns was born.  We help protect newborns and infants by providing educated, experienced, fully vetted newborn care specialists, postpartum doulas, and registered nurses.

Hi! I am Hannah, a graduate from Bethel University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. I was able to complete this degree alongside competing in a collegiate sport. In the fall, I will be continuing my education by pursuing a Masters in Strategic Leadership. Before coming to work for North Star, I volunteered in my home church nursery back in Kentucky. I also worked as a nanny and babysitter for infants and toddlers-including my newborn nephew. Recently, I completed 150 hours in the Level II and Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Children’s St. Paul. Here, I was able to care for preemies, twins, and newborns with a range of intensive care diagnoses and needs. Soon, I will be also working as a nurse on a neonatal intensive care unit (NICU).

I have a passion for providing quality and individualized care to infants and mothers. As a Newborn Care Specialist and nurse, I want to provide holistic care to every infant I get to care for. I am very excited to continue caring for infants in this exciting time for families!

Hi! I’m Paula and I am an experienced Newborn Care Specialist trained by Newborn Care Solutions as well as a Postpartum Doula trained by DONA International. I’ve earned a degree in Early Childhood Education, along with continuing certifications in CPR, First Aid, and SIDS Prevention. I have many years of experience working with multiples, preemies, and newborns/infants. My goal is to help families love and enjoy this most exciting, yet exhausting postnatal time!

I’ve been blessed with a lifetime of caring for children and families and I hope my experience can be of service to you. I began my childcare career by running my licensed home daycare for 13 years while raising my four children. This was such a blessing, and once my children were in school I knew I wanted to continue caring for infants and families!

Hence, began an 8-year journey as a Lead Infant teacher for the General Mills Infant Care Center, and Primrose. The joy I found in the infant rooms, and the training and experience gained working in center-based care was priceless!

Taking my love-based care to a more personal level I joined a beautiful
family for 8 years as their Nanny and Household Manager. Sharing my
knowledge & skills to assist in raising their child from newborn to school age was an extremely rewarding experience. I am fortunate to still be a part of their family dynamics!

Returning to my passion of infant care as a Newborn Care Specialist and
Postpartum Doula has been an absolute joy for me. I specialize in establishing healthy eat and sleep patterns for baby, as well as providing parents with the rest and confidence needed to successfully enjoy this miraculous time. I look forward to being of service to you!

Hi, my name is Erica, and I am excited to have the opportunity to work with your growing family. I have a daughter who is 9 years old, and is in fourth grade, and a son who is 7 years old and is in first grade. I have been married to my husband since 2008, and we live in Shakopee, MN. Being a former counselor, I believe that my strengths are being compassionate, advocating for others, problem-solving, and engaging in active listening. I have always been drawn to helping others and am a natural-born caretaker! I am a trained DONA birth Doula and find it incredible watching life being brought into this world! Additionally, working as a postpartum Doula, is something that I am very passionate about. I am certified as a postpartum Doula through Modern Doula Education. Allowing families to get rest and have an extra set of hands during the fourth trimester and beyond is crucial. I look forward to connecting and being of service to your growing family!

I’ve gotten the privilege in my life to work with at-risk teenagers, special needs adults, as a foster parent and as a nanny for over 10 years. Hello Families! My name is Andrea. I’m a former L&D/NICU RN (majority of my ten years were spent at Southdale Hospital)—turned IVF RN Coordinator Edina.
My husband (also a nurse!) and I have been married for 19 years, and we have four kids: twin daughters who are 18, an 11-year-old daughter, and a 7-year-old son. I’ve also been blessed to have carried five babies as a gestational surrogate.
I am Covid/influenza vaccinated (& boosted) and receive the tdaP vaccine against pertussis, every two years.
My love for babies and their families started when I was young! I was always the baby whisperer in our family and would babysit many nights of the week for older cousins and friends of my parents. When I graduated high school I moved to Philadelphia and lived with a family as a nanny to their three boys while going to college. It was an awesome experience and those boys are still “my guys” 20 years later!
I have experience as a twin mom, momma of a very colicky baby (we survived!), and then mom to a preemie. I also have sleep training experience both as a mom as well as having been through the “Taking Cara Babies” course.
I look forward to working and growing with your family.
