As a mother, grandmother, doula, newborn care specialist, and HB Educator, I see the needs of families, especially when there is a new baby in the home. When my daughter let me know that many of her friends were wondering if I could care for their baby or babies, I was surprised. She went on to explain that most do not have family members that live close by, or have anyone that they would trust caring for their most precious possession. And that is how North Star Newborns was born. We help protect newborns and infants by providing educated, experienced, fully vetted newborn care specialists and postpartum doulas.

Hi! My name is Anna and I’ve had the opportunity to work with sweet babies for most of my life. Currently, I spend some of my working hours as an RN in the NICU at Children’s Minnesota and some with North Star Newborns. In my nursing career so far, I have been able to take several courses and certifications to expand my knowledge and experience with the neonatal community. I feel passionate about educating and supporting new families, along with creating a healthy and developmentally appropriate environment for the babies. I am constantly amazed at how strong and resilient the tiniest humans can be! When I’m not snuggling a baby, I can usually be found hiking with my puppy, Rosie, trying a new recipe with my husband, Trent, or scouting out the best local cup of coffee.
My husband & I live in Eden Prairie & are the parents of two wonderful adult sons. I was fortunate to be a stay-at-home Mom. I have always had a passion for newborns & infants, & started babysitting at a very young age.
I have a bachelor’s degree in Child Development & Family Studies from the University of Wisconsin – Stout. I am certified in child & adult CPR & basic life support. I have been working as a postpartum doula / infant-caregiver since 2018.
It is a privilege to provide comfort & care for these tiny new lives, as well assisting & supporting parents.
I love being part of the North Star Newborns team!
Kaitlyn brings a wealth of knowledge and experience into the homes of our clients. Kaitlyn is certified as a Lactation Educator Counselor, and has worked with many families as a Sleep Consultant. Katy is our baby sleep whisperer, and we are always amazed by her ability to soothe babies, which ensures they are getting the right amount of sleep at every stage during the first year. This makes for a calm and content baby. It takes someone with experience to achieve what Katy does. Katy is available for overnights, and sleep consultations.
I live with my husband in Minnetonka and am a mom of two teenage sons. Ever since I was a pre-teen, I have enjoyed caring for children through babysitting, assisting in my mom’s home-centered daycare, and through childcare co-ops with MOMS Club friends. My Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management allowed me to continue building relationships, working with adults and children alike. I truly enjoy the early stages of a child’s growth and development. I intend to inspire trust and provide gentleness in my care. As a Certified Newborn Care Specialist, I get to continue doing what I find rewarding and would consider it an honor to provide care for your family.
In my free time, I enjoy nature, baking, and walking my dog, Dexter.

Hello, I am Shauna! I am a trained postpartum doula and certified lactation educator with a couple more steps to be completely certified in both. I have a 200hr yoga teacher certificate and soon will be a restorative yoga and prenatal/postpartum yoga teacher as well. To add to it all, I will be a certified herbalist by the end of spring 2022 and will have finished an extensive training just for women’s health and healing through the means of food, herbs, binding, etc. during the postpartum period. I love helping others become the best version of themselves by just being present for them in anyway I can and that is why I am here. With a passion to serve families, especially women and children, in a holistic approach, I could not have made a better career choice than to work alongside new families. Afterall, “the hand that rocks the cradle rules the world.”, what better way to lift the next generation than to support the ones raising them. It is a privilege I do not take lightly to walk alongside you in your journey, and I will honor our time together as the gift that it is. I could not be happier than to be a part of NorthStar Newborns and work closely with the dedicated professionals as I begin my own professional career.
Besides being consumed by books on health and working towards furthering education, my most important role and greatest passion is being a mother to my little boys. We love being outdoors in all weather but especially the warm months when bugs and worms are at their peak for us to look over.
Hi! I’m Paula and I am an experienced Newborn Care Specialist trained by Newborn Care Solutions as well as a Postpartum Doula trained by DONA International. I’ve earned a degree in Early Childhood Education, along with continuing certifications in CPR, First Aid, and SIDS Prevention. I have many years of experience working with multiples, preemies, and newborns/infants. My goal is to help families love and enjoy this most exciting, yet exhausting postnatal time!
I’ve been blessed with a lifetime of caring for children and families and I hope my experience can be of service to you. I began my childcare career by running my licensed home daycare for 13 years while raising my four children. This was such a blessing, and once my children were in school I knew I wanted to continue caring for infants and families!
Hence, began an 8-year journey as a Lead Infant teacher for the General Mills Infant Care Center, and Primrose. The joy I found in the infant rooms, and the training and experience gained working in center-based care was priceless!
Taking my love-based care to a more personal level I joined a beautiful
family for 8 years as their Nanny and Household Manager. Sharing my
knowledge & skills to assist in raising their child from newborn to school age was an extremely rewarding experience. I am fortunate to still be a part of their family dynamics!
Returning to my passion of infant care as a Newborn Care Specialist and
Postpartum Doula has been an absolute joy for me. I specialize in establishing healthy eat and sleep patterns for baby, as well as providing parents with the rest and confidence needed to successfully enjoy this miraculous time. I look forward to being of service to you!

Hi, my name is Renee, and I’m the mother of three wonderful kids. I’ve been married to my college sweetheart for 17 years. I’ve gotten the privilege in my life to work with at-risk teenagers, special needs adults, as a foster parent and as a nanny for over 10 years. Hi! My name is Karin, and I am a pediatric nurse. I graduated from Bethel University with my BSN, RN and I currently work at the University of Minnesota Masonic Children’s Hospital in their cardiovascular intensive care unit (kind of a mouthful, I know).
So in short, this means I work one on one with kids who have heart defects. Most (80%) of our population are newborns-one year old. While I love my job and all that comes with it, it’s fun sometimes to spend time caring for healthy babies and remind myself that not all little ones are sick. I love working with new families at North Star Newborns and giving parents a well-deserved break, as well as empowering them to be the best parents they can be!
My name is Kelly! Let me tell you a little about myself. I’ve been married to the love of my life for 30 years. My husband and I live in Eden Prairie. We have 4 wonderful adult children and 3 Yorkies. In my spare time, I love running, biking, boating, reading, cooking, and spending time with my family and dogs outside.
My passion in life is caring for infants! I’ve been caring for infants and young children for 40 years. I graduated from the University of Northwestern with a degree in education. Some of my past experiences include being a nanny for multiples, infants, and toddlers. I worked at Fairview Southdale in the maternity ward. I have been a lead infant teacher in daycares and Montessori. With all of my passion and experience, I have so much to offer a young family!
I am CPR and first aid certified. I continue to take ongoing education classes/developmental classes for infants and young children. I also have taken classes to be an infant Montessori teacher.
I am blessed to be able to treasure each day knowing what I’m passionate about, which is taking care of infants. Caring for infants is my calling, and my passion. It is my gift to give to families. I am forever grateful to be a part of North Star Newborns!

Becoming an aunt at 11 started my love and wonder of babies. Being number 8 out of 9 children, I was around many and became very busy on weekends watching my nieces and nephews as well as my brothers and sisters friends’ kids. In 2002, I became a mom for the first time. I did not want to miss a minute of her development. I stayed home with her and was entrusted with my friend’s colicky son. She did not trust anyone else to take care of him. She did not think anyone else could provide the love and have enough patience. Shortly after I had my son. My family was complete.
I worked a year after high school for the YMCA in an infant room, working predominantly with teenage single moms. In college, I minored in Sociology taking coursework in human development and social work. I interned at the Minneapolis Crisis Nursery providing respite for families in emergent need of care and support. I was a certified childbirth educator and taught newborn care to expecting parents. I worked in my children’s school district as a special education paraprofessional. Recently received the certificate for Newborn Care Specialist and I am working on the Advanced coursework. I am BLS/CPR certified and fully vaccinated.
Above all, I exude love for babies. When we are out my children tease me because they know they are going to stop many times as I admire babies out and about. Taking care of babies is second nature to me. I am intuitive, attentive, and will care for your child as my own.
My name is Chaochia. I have two little boys of my own and experienced motherhood firsthand. I was a Paramedic and EMT for 6 years, working on an ambulance. I’ve worked for two different EMS services in the Twin Cities, serving both the inner city and rural areas in Minnesota. I have also worked at Regions in the Emergency department with many different kinds of people/children. I also welcomed children into my home as a daycare provider and gave them a safe and loving space to learn and grow.
I have my CPR certification and extensive emergency medical training in children and adults. I also have my Covid vaccine and take extra precautions to keep myself and my family safe.
I look forward to sharing my knowledge and experience with families and providing support to your little ones.
