As a mother, grandmother, doula, newborn care specialist, and HB Educator, I see the needs of families, especially when there is a new baby in the home. When my daughter let me know that many of her friends were wondering if I could care for their baby or babies, I was surprised. She went on to explain that most do not have family members that live close by, or have anyone that they would trust caring for their most precious possession. And that is how North Star Newborns was born. We help protect newborns and infants by providing educated, experienced, fully vetted newborn care specialists and postpartum doulas.

Sara is a mother to one elementary-aged daughter. She holds a bachelors degree in Early Childhood Education and is a professionally trained postpartum doula and newborn care specialist who is CPR certified.
Sara has been a full-time nanny for 14+ years. This has included work with premies, newborn twins and newborn triplets. She has also cared for children ages 1 to 5.
Sara has worked as a postpartum doula for almost a year, helping families during the “4th trimester”.
She has always had a passion for caring for children, especially babies! She comes from a family of 6 children and helped to take care of younger siblings at a young age!
Sara is very excited to work with the North Star Newborn clients.
Anne has always loved kids of all ages, but she especially loves those under 1 year old because they change, learn, and grow so quickly. She was previously a teacher and also trained to be a postpartum doula before switching to full-time nannying. She has worked for over 100 families in the Twin Cities area in the last 25 years, and has extensive experience working with infants, including many sets of twins and a set of triplets. Babies are soothed by her calm, gentle demeanor, and she adores holding them close while on a walk, reading to them, or speaking in French.
My husband and I live in Wayzata, MN and are the parents of two wonderful adult sons.
When our nest became empty a year and a half ago, I realized that my need to nurture was still very strong! I became certified and have worked as a postpartum doula for the past year. I have a bachelor’s degree in Child Development and Family Studies from the University of Wisconsin – Stout. I am certified in child and adult CPR and Basic Life Support.
I have always had a passion for newborns and infants, and started babysitting at a very early age. It is a privilege to comfort and care for these tiny new lives, as well as to provide assistance and support to families.
I am thrilled to be part of the North Star Newborns team!
Kaitlyn brings a wealth of knowledge and experience into the homes of our clients. Kaitlyn is certified as a Lactation Educator Counselor, and has worked with many families as a Sleep Consultant. Katy is our baby sleep whisperer, and we are always amazed by her ability to soothe babies, which ensures they are getting the right amount of sleep at every stage during the first year. This makes for a calm and content baby. It takes someone with experience to achieve what Katy does. Katy is available for overnights, and sleep consultations.
I live with my husband in Minnetonka and am a mom to two teenage sons. I work part-time in our school’s Health Services department, providing support to our Nursing Coordinator and Pre-K to 12 health office team. Ever since I was a pre-teen, I have enjoyed caring for children through babysitting, assisting in my mom’s home-centered day care, and through childcare co-ops with MOMS Club friends. My Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management allowed me to continue building relationships, working with adults and children alike. I truly enjoy the early stages of a child’s growth and development. I intend to inspire trust and provide gentleness in my care. As a Certified Newborn Care Specialist, I get to continue doing what I find rewarding and would consider it an honor to provide care for your family.
In my free time, I enjoy nature, baking and walking my dog, Dexter.

Anna Maria and her husband Peter are extraordinary parents. Anna Maria brings with her the experience, trust, and gentleness your baby needs.
Anna Maria has always been drawn to the miraculous gift of new life. It is second nature to her to care for little ones both having come from a large family and raising one herself. She is thoroughly enjoying her ten children and five grandchildren. She is fascinated in the way a child discovers the world around them and thrives through love, trust, touch, observation, as well as verbal and playful interaction. Anna Maria continues to explore the social and emotional development of children while raising a child with special needs and appreciates the opportunity to learn from many medical professionals. Anna Maria is looking forward to supporting mothers in life’s most important work – the care of their children.

Before working as a registered nurse, Samantha went to school for music therapy and received her bachelors’ degree in anthropology. She worked as a nanny, a camp counselor, a camp nurse at Concordia Language Villages, an emergency medical technician, and a dental healthcare specialist for the Healthcorps in Ukiah, California. Greetings! My name is Mary Slattery and I reside in the Twin Cities with my husband and children. I am a classical musician by trade but am currently pursuing a masters degree in nursing. I am almost halfway through the program and hope to work as a neonatal intensive care nurse. I was inspired to return to school after spending time in the NICU with two of my babies. I was deeply touched by the experience and by the care we received. I truly believe that there is no greater gift than the life of a child and I am humbled by the gift of my own children and the gift of each and every child I encounter.

Lisa is a mother of 3 lovely elementary-aged kids. She has a Bachelors degree in Sociology and took many courses in Psychology. In addition to her personal parenting experience, she recently completed a Newborn Care Specialist class and is CPR certified.
Lisa breastfed her children and also used cloth diapers. One of her sons needed to change to Neocate formula due to allergies, so she has personal experience with both ways of feeding a newborn.
After staying home to care for her kids for 5 years, she is excited to enter the work world again. Prior to staying home she managed a home with 8 developmentally disabled adults/children. Before that, she was a PCA for a young boy with DiGeorge Syndrome.
Lisa has always had a passion for helping/caring for people, especially babies! It all started when she was 4 years old at home with her mother during the days. Her mom took care of a neighbors baby and Lisa was by her side helping with everything.
Lisa is very excited to work with the North Star Newborn clients and support them through this new and exciting time of life.
“I live in Blaine, wife (married for 33 years), a mother of five grown children, and a grandmother of four (not including the “four legged” variety). I was blessed to be an at-home mom and I owned/provided home daycare for many families. It was not unusual to find 12 children (of all ages) under foot at any time – “the more the merrier,” one might say. Taking care of children and working with “little ones” comes naturally to me.
“I have my Master’s Degree in Special Education and have been working in special education and with families and their students’ with disabilities for the past 18+ years. But life is urging me to leave the classroom and calling me back to “little ones.” My motto: “People don’t care how much you know until they know how much you care.” I am a teacher and nurturer by nature. For me, working with people and children is a passion and a labor of love. I know the value of listening to others. Over the years, I have experienced and witnessed the ups and downs of raising children and trying to juggle all the demands life puts on us. It is important to find the best care and support for our children when we ourselves can’t be there. That’s what excites me about being a part of North Star Newborns. I get connected to awesome clients and have the opportunity to provide professional, loving, and caring support to families when they need it most. Like they say, “It takes a Village.””

“I have always been a caretaker at heart. I married my college sweetheart and we have 3 children. I breastfed my two biological children and bottle fed our third little one whom we adopted. Before being married I gained experience in walking alongside families as a long-term nanny. Once married my husband and I were houseparents for 10 teenage boys. Then I was the Residential Supervisor of a group home for 4 special needs adult men for several years. All of these experiences have helped shape who I am now and I’m very grateful to be able to support moms and dads in this special time of bringing home a baby. I have been a postpartum doula for the last 2 years and have loved it. I have experience working with families who welcome home twins. I am First Aid and CPR certified for infants, children and Adults. I’m very excited to be apart of the North Star Newborn team. “
