Excellence in in-home newborn care.

For Baby and Parents

North Star Newborns offers one-on-one care for newborns and infants from birth to 12 months. Our service is primarily focused on the needs of the baby. The newborn and infant care specialist is responsible for gentle, loving care, sterilization of bottles, and keeping the area of care neat and orderly. We are a nanny service, so we work in your home following your lead in the type of care you would like for your baby. We are available on call, or in advance. We have helped women that need to finish up classes for a degree, women that run their own business and just need help occasionally, a husband and wife looking for an evening out together, families that have had a nanny call in sick, or when the nanny is on vacation. Some of our clients simply want to delay baby’s entrance into daycare until the baby is a bit older. Whatever your needs are, we try to meet them!

We also provide the following to get parents and babies off to a happy, healthy start:

Onsite newborn nanny training and ongoing support for both the nanny and the family. Happy nannies and happy babies help prevent high nanny turnover!

Helping Parents Transition Back to Work

Post-Birth Postpartum

Having a Baby is Serious Business… Let us support you and your employees.

Studies show that superior maternity and paternity benefits improve worker retention, increase productivity, improve loyalty and morale, and allow smaller businesses to compete better with larger businesses*.

In the time of COVID-19 this is even more critical. Many parents now find themselves working from home and balancing more than they ever have. The need for quality childcare in the home is increasing. Learn more about our response to COVID-19 HERE (link).

What North Star Newborns offers is unique – by offering parents extra care and support for their newest additions, parents will feel more cared for and supported, allowing for a smoother transition in both personal and work life.

Sleep Consultation

Katy Paurus
North Star Newborns Sleep Consultant

As a Newborn Care Specialist, Katy has come to realize how important establishing healthy sleep habits can be on a child and the family as a whole. That’s why she decided to become a Sleep Consultant. Katy looks forward to helping you and your little one reach your sleep goals. With a collaborative approach she will come up with the best plan for your family going forward.

I very much believe Katy has been instrumental in helping my Patrick and Catherine sleeping through the night. No doubt all the other family members/nanny/doulas/NCS participants in our lives have played a valuable role as well but upon arriving to Minneapolis and working with Katy, she’s has been a great source of knowledge in helping us get them to stretch through the night. Because she was with us day after day for most of the period, she saw the patterns and provided us a strategy and she gave us guidance when we ultimately moved away from overnight care. I appreciate her attention to detail, how she is organized – which reflects itself most notably in milk storage- and how she conducts herself in our home. She has exceeded my expectations and she stands out among all the overnight care specialists I have worked with.

Lactation Counselor

What is a Certified Lactation Counselor, and why do I need one?

The Certified Lactation Counselor® (CLC®) certification identifies a professional in lactation counseling who has demonstrated the necessary skills, knowledge, and attitudes to provide clinical breastfeeding counseling and management support to families who are thinking about breastfeeding or who have questions or problems during the course of breastfeeding/lactation.

NSN- BabySoft, LLC

NSN-BabySoft, LLC is now the exclusive U.S. distributor of BabySoft Patient Identification (ID) Bands. Manufactured in the UK by Brenmoor, Ltd., a leading provider of patient identification solutions, BabySoft ID bands provide greater patient safety through comfort and security.

With only an ultra soft, allergen and latex free foam in contact with a patient’s skin, there is less risk of irritation thus reducing susceptibility to cuts, scrapes, nicks, and infection.  A microslim label which allows for barcoding using direct thermal print provides for security and accuracy of pertinent patient information.  It adheres securely to the soft foam creating durability and strength.  The band is then wrapped around a patient’s wrist or ankle, overlapping back onto itself to form a continuous loop.

The BabySoft ID Bands are completely impervious to any absorption and offer a cost efficient solution for hospitals.

We believe every baby deserves a safer, softer entry into the world!
